Meet elderly people demand
Main Article Content
Abstract
In this article are presented work experiences with elderly people within the contexts of private practice and public service. The cases refer to psychotherapy interventions which belong to “Macri” study, a home psychotherapy intervention from the “Espero” study and an intervention within the Hospital-Territory Psychology Service of the North West Tuscany Local Health Authority. When the requests are valued, in private practice as well as in the public context, we meet elderly people who do not want to be considered just “bearers” of an emotionality to be taken for granted: meeting the psychotherapy service with its specialists, they express their wish to still exploring their subjectivity. Their “associated question” is characterized by an emotionality that may surprise, be amazing, confuse. Emotions that may scare the effected people but at the same time, such emotions belong to their wish to take care of them. Giving the correct value to each individual life experiences, relationships and wish is the common thread that is part of these three reports and which, despite their differences, connects them.
