Impatience

Abstract

In this work, “suffering” is considered as the emotion one experiences in feeling emotions. Suffering is the emotion that focuses on itself as an object and is opposed to all other emotions that focus on the otherness as an object, or rather, that “shape” the otherness through emotional symbolization. Consequently, impatience is seen as a refusal to think about the emotions one feels; impatience, therefore, involves emotional acting out towards the reified otherness, considered as the cause, the responsible for the emotion one feels towards it. The analysis of impatience, which is very frequent in the dynamics of social coexistence, and its clinical implications is proposed.
